The arena in the digital environment

Virtual tour

Whether or not you have visited Stadionul Steaua before, this section gives you the opportunity to discover it in a way you have certainly not experienced yet. When you attend a match or any other event, you only have access to the sector covered by your ticket. In the virtual environment, however, you can explore almost everywhere. It is an experience intended to complement what you know about the stadium and offer new perspectives that may be inaccessible during a visit.

The virtual tour provides visual information and satisfies a natural curiosity, including for those who are too far away to visit the stadium easily, while an on-site tour also offers sensory details and the emotion of being in a particular space at a particular moment. The two do not exclude one another; they complement each other.

During a physical tour of the stadium, you can feel how comfortable the seats on the team benches are, but to protect the pitch you will not be able to see the stadium from the centre spot or the penalty spot; in the virtual tour, you can cross the pitch in every direction without restriction. You can simulate a sprint or even the path of a ball towards the goal. The virtual tour does not replace an experience; it adds to everything we want to know about this arena. There are also several other advantages to consider: you are not constrained by time, it does not rain, it is not cold, there is no wind and it is free. You can stay as long as you wish and return at any time.

We created a 3D digital map of the parts of the stadium that we considered potentially interesting to the general public, also seeking to extend the building's functionality into the virtual environment and create new tools for making use of this space. How far the virtual experience can be developed is limited only by imagination and boldness. We can connect existing stadium spaces with others located kilometres away, and we can personalise real areas with virtual elements.

We can cross the boundary between the real and the virtual by creating a single environment in which the public can move around, interact with predefined elements and access e-commerce functions such as electronic purchasing and booking systems, newsletter subscriptions or feedback forms. To continuously evaluate what is happening, we integrated statistical analysis and information-compilation functions that help explain how users navigate the 3D model – which routes are used most often and where they spend the most time inside the stadium.
